Our History

Mantri Square opened its doors on March 16, 2010, marking a significant milestone in Bangalore's retail landscape. Inaugurated by then Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, the mall represented Mantri Developers' ambitious entry into organized retail, transforming underutilized industrial land into a world-class shopping destination.

With an investment of over Rs 200 crore, the mall was conceived to address the growing demand for modern retail experiences in Bangalore's rapidly expanding urban landscape. The site on Sampige Road in Malleshwaram was strategically chosen for its dense residential population and excellent connectivity.

2006 - Planning Begins

Mantri Developers begins planning its inaugural retail venture, envisioning a 1.7 million sq ft shopping destination.

March 2010 - Grand Opening

Mantri Square officially opens with 252 stores, becoming one of India's largest malls at the time.

March 2014 - Metro Connectivity

The Mantri Square Sampige Road metro station opens, providing unprecedented accessibility.

August 2014 - Skybridge Inauguration

India's first mall-metro skybridge is inaugurated, creating seamless connectivity.

Architecture & Design

Mantri Square was designed by the renowned international architecture firm Bentel Associates, known for creating iconic retail spaces worldwide. The design philosophy centered on creating an open, inviting atmosphere that maximizes natural light and ventilation while providing a sense of grandeur and sophistication.

The mall's architecture features:

Namma Metro Integration

Mantri Square holds the distinction of being India's only mall with direct metro connectivity. The Mantri Square Sampige Road station, opened on March 1, 2014, represents a pioneering public-private partnership between Mantri Developers and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

The skybridge, inaugurated on August 20, 2014, was the first of its kind in India, directly connecting a metro station to a shopping mall. This 80,000 sq ft station features:

  • Two basement levels for parking
  • Ground and upper floors with retail space
  • A pedestrian bridge linking directly to the mall's first floor
  • Three entry/exit gates for convenient access

The metro integration has transformed how Bangaloreans access the mall, making it possible to travel from any part of the city without worrying about traffic or parking.
